About Lake Conway

Lake Conway sits in Orange County, Florida, just southeast of downtown Orlando. It is a chain of three connected basins — often called North, South, and Little Conway — joined by short canals, with a combined shoreline near seven miles. The lake gave its name to the city of Belle Isle, incorporated on its shore in 1961, and borders the town of Edgewood and neighborhoods of southeast Orlando. Like most lakes in central Florida's karst terrain, it formed as water collected in low ground shaped by the dissolution of underlying limestone rather than by glacial action.

The lake's canals and calm, sheltered water made it a center for competitive water skiing beginning in the mid-20th century, drawing ski schools and tournament training to its shoreline. Homes along Conway are mostly private residences with docks and lifts, part of Orlando's older waterfront neighborhoods rather than a resort district. The surrounding area sits within a few miles of downtown Orlando and Orlando International Airport, putting the lake inside a dense metropolitan setting despite its residential, low-key shoreline.

Why we cut this one
Lake Conway is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Lake Conway depth chart, in wood

This is a Lake Conway depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 3 ft, 7 ft, 10 ft, 14 ft, 17 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 21 ft. The lake covers about 1.6 square miles, and 245 shore roads are engraved around it. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Lake Conway map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Lake Conway for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Lake Conway.

Questions

Lake Conway map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Lake Conway; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Lake Conway is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
