About Lake Crescent
Lake Crescent sits inside Orlando, Florida, part of the cluster of small lakes that give several of the city's older neighborhoods their names and their curbside docks. Its name describes its shape, a narrow crescent rather than a round basin, and the lake covers roughly 151 acres. Like most lakes in this part of central Florida, it sits in a low, flat, limestone-based landscape where lakes are commonly formed by sinking or solution activity rather than by glaciers or dams. Houses line most of its shoreline, about two miles around, many with private docks or seawalls.
The lake reaches roughly 28 feet at its deepest point by modeled estimate, modest depth that still supports a resident population of largemouth bass and panfish anglers fish from small boats and the shoreline. Development around the lake is almost entirely residential, single-family homes rather than public parks or commercial waterfront. Boat traffic tends toward canoes, kayaks, and small fishing boats rather than open-water cruisers.
