About Lake Lawne

Lake Lawne sits in west Orlando, in Orange County, Florida, within the Pine Hills area a few miles from downtown. Like most lakes in this part of the state, it lies in a landscape shaped by limestone karst, where sinkholes and porous bedrock produce shallow, irregular basins rather than the glacially carved lakes common farther north. The lake covers roughly 126 acres and is ringed by single-family neighborhoods built up through the second half of the 20th century as Orlando's suburbs expanded westward.

The shoreline runs about two miles, tracing an uneven outline with coves that give the water more edge relative to its overall size. Depth is modest, with a modeled maximum near 27 feet, in line with the shallow sinkhole lakes typical of the region. Use centers on private docks, small boats, and neighborhood fishing rather than the larger recreational or commercial boating traffic found on bigger area lakes. It functions mainly as a local water body within a dense residential grid rather than as a regional destination.

Why we cut this one
Lake Lawne is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Lake Lawne depth chart, in wood

This is a Lake Lawne depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 4 ft, 9 ft, 13 ft, 18 ft, 22 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 27 ft. The lake covers about 0.2 square miles. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Lake Lawne map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Lake Lawne for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Lake Lawne.

Questions

Lake Lawne map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Lake Lawne; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Lake Lawne is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
