About Maule Lake
Maule Lake sits in northern Miami-Dade County, between North Miami Beach and Aventura. The lake did not form naturally; it was cut from Biscayne oolitic limestone during rock-quarrying operations that supplied fill and road base for South Florida's building boom in the middle of the twentieth century. Crews mined below the water table, and the abandoned pit filled with water to become the lake known today. A canal system connects it to the Intracoastal Waterway, giving what began as a quarry a route out to the Atlantic.
The lake is now ringed by condominium towers and townhomes, and Maule Lake Marina keeps sailboats and motor yachts docked along its edges. Boaters use the canal connection to reach the Intracoastal and open water without a long run down the coast. Retirees and part-time residents from the Northeast make up much of the surrounding population, drawn to waterfront access without oceanfront pricing. Fishing from docks and small boats is common, with snook and snapper working in from the connected saltwater canals.

Yes. Maule Lake is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
Can I add my own place on it?
