About Tiger Lake
Tiger Lake sits in southeastern Polk County, Florida, at the southern end of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, connected north to Lake Kissimmee and Lake Rosalie through Tiger Creek. It covers about 1,858 acres, with close to seven miles of shoreline bordered mostly by cattle ranches, citrus groves, and cypress rather than subdivisions. Lake Kissimmee State Park occupies the land between the three lakes, and the surrounding basin remains largely undeveloped compared with the more built-up chain around Winter Haven, roughly 20 miles to the northwest.
The lake carries a reputation among Florida bass anglers, who fish it for largemouth bass and speckled perch, often launching from a public boat ramp. At a modeled maximum depth of about 40 feet, it runs deeper than most lakes in the Kissimmee chain, where basins tend to stay far shallower. Boat traffic is lighter than on Winter Haven's more developed lakes, and much of the surrounding land remains cattle ranch and citrus grove rather than residential shoreline.
