About Turkey Lake
Turkey Lake sits in southwest Orlando, Florida, inside the MetroWest area near the interchange of Interstate 4 and the Florida Turnpike. The lake covers about 252 acres with roughly four miles of shoreline, and it is shallow compared to many Florida lakes, reaching a maximum modeled depth of about 54 feet. Bill Frederick Park, a City of Orlando park, occupies land along its southern and eastern shore. The surrounding neighborhoods grew up alongside Orlando's tourism corridor, close to Universal Orlando Resort and the convention district along International Drive.
The park at Turkey Lake includes a swimming beach, boat ramp, campground, and picnic pavilions, and it draws a mix of Orlando residents and visiting families looking for a break from the nearby theme parks. Anglers fish the lake for largemouth bass and panfish from the shoreline and small boats. Because it sits inside city limits, Turkey Lake functions as a local recreation spot rather than a rural fishing lake, with steady foot and bike traffic on its park trails and regular weekend use by nearby MetroWest and Dr. Phillips residents.
