Lake Shore Country Club

Lake Shore Country Club sits on the bluffs of Lake Erie's south shore at 5950 Lake Shore Drive, a few miles from downtown Erie. The club dates its own founding to 1929, and its eighteen holes run close enough to the water that the lake is visually in play on more holes here than at almost any other club in the region — a routing few inland Pennsylvania courses can offer.

Erie's golf history is a tangle of clubs, mergers and neighboring courses, and Lake Shore's own paper trail is no exception — outside directories sometimes list an earlier founding year and a different original architect for the property, most likely crossed with one of the city's other historic clubs nearby. What both the club and the record agree on without dispute: this has been Erie's lakefront course for close to a century, and it still plays that way today.
