About Bouquet Reservoir
Bouquet Reservoir sits in Bouquet Canyon in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, formed by Bouquet Canyon Dam, built by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as part of the Los Angeles Aqueduct system. The dam holds back Bouquet Canyon Creek, which drains foothill terrain north of Santa Clarita. The reservoir functions as a water-storage asset for the city of Los Angeles rather than for the rural canyon communities that surround it.
Because LADWP operates the lake as an active drinking-water supply, swimming and boating are not permitted; access is limited to shoreline fishing under a day-use permit, and the reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout. People who use it come mostly from Santa Clarita and the smaller community of Leona Valley, along with campers using U.S. Forest Service sites farther up Bouquet Canyon Road. Its long, narrow outline follows the creek canyon it flooded, not a naturally rounded basin.
