The lake

About Grand Lake

Grand Lake is the largest and deepest natural lake in Colorado, about 500 acres and 389 feet deep at the headwaters of the Colorado River, with the Never Summer and Front Range peaks around it. It is joined to Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby, which together form the Three Lakes.

The town of Grand Lake's boardwalk main street sits on the north shore beside the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park; the Grand Lake Yacht Club, founded in 1902, is the highest-altitude registered yacht club in the world.

Why we cut this one

Grand Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
