About Lake Granby
Lake Granby was formed by Granby Dam on the headwaters of the Colorado River, completed in 1950 as the largest storage reservoir of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, which moves West Slope water under the Continental Divide to Front Range cities and farms. The lake covers about 7,250 acres with 40 miles of shoreline at 8,280 feet elevation, ringed by the Arapaho National Forest, and is stocked with trout and kokanee salmon. The Lake Granby Yacht Club, one of the highest-elevation yacht clubs in the world, sails from its shore near the town of Grand Lake.

Yes. Lake Granby is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.
