The lake
About West Okoboji Lake
West Lake Okoboji in northwest Iowa is 136 feet deep and startlingly clear for the prairie, the centerpiece of the Iowa Great Lakes chain with East Okoboji and Spirit Lake. It was gouged by the Des Moines lobe of the last ice sheet; the name is Dakota.
Arnolds Park amusement park on the south shore has run since 1889, one of the oldest in the country; Okoboji, Wahpeton and West Okoboji are the lake towns and the University of Okoboji is a joke that sells a lot of t-shirts.
