About Lake Monroe

Lake Monroe is the largest lake entirely within Indiana, built by the Army Corps of Engineers between 1960 and 1965 by damming Salt Creek southeast of Bloomington for flood control and water supply. The reservoir covers about 10,750 acres and reaches a maximum depth of 54 feet, and it now provides drinking water to more than 100,000 people in the Bloomington area. The Charles C. Deam Wilderness, Indiana's only federally designated wilderness area, borders its south shore, and the lake draws well over a million visitors a year for boating and fishing.

Why we cut this one
Lake Monroe is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
