The lake
About Cross Lake
Cross Lake was built in the 1920s when the city of Shreveport dammed Cross Bayou to create its municipal water supply, about 8,575 acres on the western edge of the city in Caddo Parish. Moss-draped cypress line much of the shore, and the lake supports fishing, boating and a healthy alligator population alongside the drinking-water intake. Ford Park, named for a former mayor, is one of several public access points around the lake.
