About Green Pond

Green Pond sits in Clinton County, New York, a short drive from Plattsburgh near the eastern edge of the Adirondacks. Like most lakes and ponds in this part of the state, its basin dates to the retreat of glacial ice sheets thousands of years ago, which carved and later filled the low ground between the region's ridges. The name follows a common regional pattern, where the word pond is used for bodies of water that, by size, would be called lakes elsewhere in the country.

The pond covers roughly 467 acres and holds about seven miles of shoreline, giving it a more irregular, elongated footprint than a simple round basin. Modeled depth reaches around 54 feet, deep enough to stratify in summer and support cold-water habitat below the surface layer. Its size places it among the mid-sized waters of Clinton County, drawing anglers and paddlers from the Plattsburgh area rather than large-scale tourism, and keeping development around it closer to camps and seasonal residences than dense shoreline building.

Why we cut this one
Green Pond is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Green Pond depth chart, in wood

This is a Green Pond depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 9 ft, 18 ft, 27 ft, 36 ft, 45 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 54 ft. The lake covers about 0.8 square miles. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Green Pond map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Green Pond for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Green Pond.

Questions

Green Pond map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Green Pond; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Green Pond is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
