About Lake Henry
Lake Henry lies in the hill country east of Scranton, Pennsylvania, in a stretch of northeastern Pennsylvania known for small lakes set among ridgelines rather than open farmland. The lake covers about 272 acres and carries roughly four miles of shoreline, a ratio that suggests a shape built from coves and points rather than one open basin. Houses ring most of the shore, set on lots cut into the surrounding hillside, the kind of small lake community common to this part of the state.
The lake supports activities typical of small lakes this size in northeastern Pennsylvania: fishing from docks and small boats, swimming off private beaches, and slow laps around the shoreline in canoes or kayaks. Traffic on the water comes mostly from people who live there or are visiting family on the lake rather than from through-traffic. Winters bring the lake down to a quieter state, with ice covering the surface for stretches of the season, as it does across most lakes at this elevation in the region.
