About Lake Wallenpaupack

Lake Wallenpaupack was created in 1926 when Pennsylvania Power & Light dammed Wallenpaupack Creek for hydroelectric power, flooding the village of Wilsonville. It runs about 13 miles with 52 miles of shoreline and depths to 60 feet, and it is the third-largest lake in Pennsylvania.

Hawley at the dam end and the Pocono resort communities along the shore make it the most visited lake in the Poconos; the name is Lenape for 'the stream of swift and slow water'.

On the board
  • 40 roads engraved around the shore, 13 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Wallenpaupack is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
