About Lake Waramaug

Lake Waramaug lies in the hills of northwest Connecticut between Washington, Warren and Kent, about 680 acres and 40 feet deep, named for a Wyantenock sachem. It is the second-largest natural lake in the state and one of its most carefully kept.

The Hopkins Inn, the Boulders and the Washington summer houses around it have made it a New York weekend since the nineteenth century; Lake Waramaug State Park on the north shore is the public beach.

On the board
  • 42 roads engraved around the shore, 12 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Waramaug is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
