About Lake Rohunta
Lake Rohunta sits in north-central Massachusetts, roughly 40 miles from Worcester, in a stretch of the state where small hills and hardwood forest run down to the water's edge. At about 292 acres, it is a mid-sized lake by regional standards, small enough to see across but large enough to hold a real boating and fishing population through the summer months. Its shoreline runs close to seven miles, a figure that reflects a shape more irregular than round, with coves and points breaking up the perimeter rather than a single open basin.
The surrounding towns follow the pattern common to inland Massachusetts lakes: year-round residents mixed with generations of families who return to the same camp or cottage every summer. Fishing for bass and panfish is the main draw, along with kayaking and swimming on a body of water quiet enough not to attract heavy motorboat traffic.
