About Nabnasset Lake
Nabnasset Lake sits in Westford, Massachusetts, just west of Lowell, fed by Stony Brook and held at its current level by a small dam at the outlet. The lake covers about 124 acres with roughly two miles of shoreline, a modest footprint compared to the larger kettle lakes elsewhere in Middlesex County. Its basin is shallow overall, with a modeled maximum depth near 29 feet, typical of the low-relief terrain left behind after glacial retreat across this part of eastern Massachusetts.
Houses ring most of the shoreline, a mix of year-round residences and older seasonal cottages converted for full-time use as Westford grew into a Boston suburb. A private association manages a beach and boat landing on the lake, and fishing for bass and panfish draws local anglers in small boats and kayaks rather than large motorized traffic. The surrounding roads still carry names tied to old farms and mills, a reminder that the area was worked land before it became a bedroom community twenty-some miles northwest of downtown Boston.
