The lake
About Onota Lake
Onota Lake sits in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, in the Berkshires, about 617 acres split into two basins, with an average depth of 21 feet and a maximum of 72 feet. Wealthy cottagers built substantial summer estates along its shore in the late 1800s and early 1900s, a history still visible in the older houses on the water. Today it's used for swimming, water skiing, sailing and fishing, and Williams College's rowing team trains here.
