About Crescent Lake
Crescent Lake sits in Oakland County, part of a lake district carved by the retreat of glacial ice sheets across southeastern Michigan roughly 14,000 years ago. Meltwater left behind a chain of kettle lakes in the moraines north and west of Detroit, and the lake's curved outline, visible on any map of the area, is what gave it its name. Pontiac lies a short drive to the southeast.
At about 91 acres with roughly two miles of shoreline, Crescent Lake is small enough to see across but large enough to support a year-round residential community. Homes and cottages line most of the perimeter, and the lake is used mainly for fishing, swimming, and small boats rather than large-craft recreation. It functions as a neighborhood lake for the surrounding township rather than a regional destination.
