About Glen Lake
Glen Lake sits just inland from the Sleeping Bear Dunes on the Leelanau Peninsula, split by a narrows into Big Glen and Little Glen. Big Glen is about 130 feet deep and startlingly clear — the color from the overlook on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is what makes people pull over.
Glen Arbor at the north end, Empire to the west and the M-22 loop around the lake are the summer geography of the peninsula. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, voted the most beautiful place in America in a 2011 poll, wraps the lake's western side.
