About Clearwater Lake
Clearwater Lake sits in central Minnesota near St. Cloud, its basin carved out as glaciers retreated at the end of the last ice age and left behind the shallow depressions that became the region's lake country. The lake covers roughly 3,002 acres, making it one of the larger bodies of water in the area, with close to 17 miles of shoreline winding around bays and points rather than running in a simple oval.
The lake has long drawn anglers after walleye and muskellunge, along with boaters and cabin owners from the St. Cloud area looking for water close to home rather than a long drive north. Its depth, modeled at around 80 feet at the deepest point, is enough to hold a cold-water fishery through the summer months, and the surrounding shoreline mixes year-round homes with seasonal cabins typical of central Minnesota lake communities.
