About Detroit Lake

Detroit Lake sits entirely within the city of Detroit Lakes in northwestern Minnesota's Becker County, split by a shallow gravel bar into a larger and a smaller basin, locally called Big and Little Detroit. It covers about 3,067 acres and reaches depths near 89 feet, and the city's beach and downtown lakefront have made it one of the more established resort towns in the lakes region west of Bemidji. Walleye and muskie fishing, along with the WE Fest country music festival each summer, are what draw much of the crowd.
