About Lake Sylvia
Lake Sylvia sits in Wright County, Minnesota, a short drive from Annandale and roughly twenty-five miles from St. Cloud. Like most lakes in this part of the state, its basin was carved out during the retreat of glaciers thousands of years ago, leaving behind a shoreline now lined with cabins, resorts, and year-round homes. Wright County maintains a regional park along the lake, giving the public a boat launch and swimming beach on water that is otherwise mostly private docks.
The lake covers about 1,594 acres with close to 16 miles of shoreline and a modeled maximum depth near 94 feet, enough to hold walleye and muskie alongside the panfish that draw families into the shallows. Anglers and pontoon owners share the water with a summer population of lake-home residents who split time between the Twin Cities and central Minnesota. Once the ice sets in winter, fish houses appear across the surface and the lake turns into a local ice-fishing spot.
