About Lake Waconia

Lake Waconia is a natural lake in Carver County, Minnesota, about 35 miles southwest of Minneapolis, covering roughly 3,080 acres and reaching a maximum depth of 37 feet. The town of Waconia sits on its northeast shore, its name Dakota for 'fountain' or 'spring,' and the lake's public beach and Lake Waconia Regional Park are the main public access points. It functions as a close-in weekend lake for the western Twin Cities suburbs, busy with fishing and pontoon traffic through the summer months.

On the board
  • 2 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 121 roads engraved around the shore, 4 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Waconia is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
