About Long Pond

Long Pond sits in southern New Hampshire, a few miles northeast of Manchester, in the rolling, pond-studded terrain typical of that part of the state. At roughly 82 acres with about two miles of shoreline, it's small enough to see across from most points on the water. The shore is a mix of year-round houses and seasonal camps, with public access limited to a small boat launch. Like most ponds in the region, it was shaped by the retreat of glacial ice, and it runs shallow overall, with a modeled maximum depth near 26 feet.

The pond draws mostly local traffic: anglers working the shallows for bass and pickerel, families running small boats and kayaks, and swimmers off private docks in summer. Its size keeps motor traffic limited, so most days settle into a quiet mix of paddling and shorefront fishing. It functions less as a destination lake and more as a neighborhood pond — no marina, no public beach drawing crowds from out of town, just a small body of water surrounded by the people who live near it.

Why we cut this one
Long Pond is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Long Pond depth chart, in wood

This is a Long Pond depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 4 ft, 9 ft, 13 ft, 17 ft, 21 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 26 ft. The lake covers about 0.1 square miles. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Long Pond map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Long Pond for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Long Pond.

Questions

Long Pond map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Long Pond; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Long Pond is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
