About Fourth Lake Fulton Chain

Fourth Lake is one of eight lakes in the Fulton Chain, formed where a dam on the Moose River backs up water through the west-central Adirondacks near Old Forge, New York. It's one of the larger lakes in the chain, with the hamlet of Inlet at its head and Eagle Bay strung along the north shore; Old Forge sits at the foot of the whole chain, with the Enchanted Forest Water Safari water park drawing summer crowds. Canoeists and kayakers use the Fulton Chain as the classic start of long Adirondack paddling routes, including a multi-day canoe race that has begun here every September for decades.

On the board
  • 4 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 185 roads engraved around the shore, 3 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Fourth Lake Fulton Chain is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
