About Lake Placid

Lake Placid the lake sits just north of Lake Placid the village, about 4 miles long and 150 feet deep, with two large islands — Buck and Moose — in the middle and Whiteface Mountain rising at the north end. It is one of the clearest lakes in the Adirondacks, and its shore has been camp country since the 1880s.

The village hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 — the Miracle on Ice happened a few hundred yards from the water — and it sits on Mirror Lake, the smaller lake in town. Lake Placid Lodge and Whiteface Inn are on the big lake.

Why we cut this one
Lake Placid is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
