About Lake Pleasant

Lake Pleasant is a 1,475-acre lake in Hamilton County, New York, about four miles long and up to 62 feet deep, its water draining out through the Sacandaga Outlet toward the Sacandaga River. The village of Speculator sits at its wide northern end, where a public beach draws summer crowds along the road that follows the shore; the southern reaches are quieter, lined mostly with camps. Smallmouth bass and walleye are the draw for anglers, and the lake is the gateway to a chain of Adirondack waters that continues south into the Great Sacandaga.

On the board
  • 63 roads engraved around the shore, 9 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake Pleasant is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
