About Pine Meadow Lake
Pine Meadow Lake sits inside Harriman State Park in Rockland County, New York, formed by a dam across Pine Meadow Brook. There is no public road to the shoreline; the only approach is on foot, along the Pine Meadow Trail from a trailhead near Route 17 in Reeves Meadow, or via the Conklins Crossing and Hillburn-Torne-Sebago trails that meet at its edges. The lake covers roughly 64 acres within the park's forest, part of the roughly 47,000-acre Harriman-Bear Mountain tract managed by the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
Because it sits inside parkland with no shoreline development and no motors permitted, Pine Meadow Lake draws hikers and anglers rather than boat traffic. Bass fishing is the main draw from shore or a hand-launched canoe, and the surrounding trail network makes it a stop on longer loop hikes and backpacking routes through Harriman. Its visitors come mostly from the New York City and northern New Jersey suburbs — Sloatsburg and Hillburn are the closest towns — day hikers from Paterson and beyond who drive to a trailhead and walk the rest of the way in.
