About Saranac Lake
Upper Saranac Lake is about 8 miles long in the heart of the Adirondacks, ringed by the Great Camps that industrial fortunes built in the 1890s. The village of Saranac Lake, on the lower lake, was the country's leading tuberculosis cure town under Dr. Trudeau, and the winter carnival's ice palace still rises every February.
