About Tupper Lake

Tupper Lake is an 11,000-acre lake in the Adirondacks, connected north to Raquette Pond and the village of Tupper Lake that grew up on its shore as a sawmill and railroad town in the late 1800s. The Raquette River threads through the lake on its long run toward the St. Lawrence, and the surrounding hills are mostly state forest preserve. Along with Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, Tupper Lake is one of the Adirondacks' 'Tri-Lakes' villages, and the lake itself remains a working boating and fishing lake rather than a resort strip, with far more shoreline in the woods than in driveways.
