The lake

About Conneaut Lake

Conneaut Lake in Crawford County is the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania, about 930 acres and 68 feet deep, a glacial kettle in the hills west of Meadville. The name is Seneca for 'snow water'. The Conneaut Lake Park amusement park, opened in 1892, still runs its 1938 Blue Streak coaster.

The borough of Conneaut Lake at the south end, the Hotel Conneaut and the cottages along Oakland Beach and Lakeside make it the summer place for Erie and Pittsburgh families; ice fishing takes over in January.
