About Lake LeBoeuf

Lake LeBoeuf is a small glacial lake at Waterford, Pennsylvania, about 40 feet deep, at the head of French Creek. The French built Fort Le Boeuf on its outlet in 1753, and it was here that twenty-one-year-old Major George Washington delivered Virginia's demand that they leave — the errand that began his public life and, a year later, the French and Indian War.

The lake and the borough are the home of Every Lake: our shop is a few hundred yards from the water, and the first map we ever cut was this one.

On the board
  • 16 roads engraved around the shore, 6 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Lake LeBoeuf is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
