The lake

About Lake Winola

Lake Winola is a natural glacial lake of about 185 acres in Overfield Township, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, split into eastern and western basins by a peninsula and reaching nearly 70 feet at its deepest point. Factoryville and Dalton are the nearest towns. A trolley line ran tourists out to the lake's dance pavilion and small amusement park from 1908 to 1930, and the Scranton Canoe Club still keeps a clubhouse on the peninsula today. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission runs a public launch, and boats are required to travel counter-clockwise. Hillary Clinton's family vacationed on the lake when she was a child.
