About Tamarack Lake

Tamarack Lake is a man-made impoundment straddling East Mead Township in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, in the low, boggy country a few miles from Meadville and Saegertown that gave the lake its tamarack-swamp name. It's a working Pennsylvania fishing lake, stocked for panfish and bass, more a local destination than a resort. The wetlands around it are unusual for the state — cold, acidic bog left by the retreat of the last glacier, with tamarack and other northern plants still holding on this far south. Small boats and shoreline anglers are the lake's regular company.

On the board
  • 26 roads engraved around the shore, 12 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Tamarack Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
