About Westcolang Pond
Westcolang Pond sits in Pike County, Pennsylvania, roughly 30 miles east of Scranton. The surrounding land is part of the Pocono Plateau, a forested, glacially shaped stretch of northeastern Pennsylvania that holds many small lakes and ponds across Pike and Wayne counties. Despite the name, Westcolang covers about 200 acres, closer in size to what the region usually calls a lake than a pond. Homes line most of its three miles of shoreline, set back among trees rather than gathered into a town center, and the access roads around it stay narrow and largely residential.
The pond reaches about 45 feet at its deepest point, a considerable depth relative to its 200-acre surface. That ratio of depth to area gives Westcolang a more compact profile than the broad, shallow shape common to many small Pennsylvania lakes. The shoreline is almost entirely residential, without a commercial strip or marina on the water. Boating and fishing account for most of the activity on the pond, and its modest three-mile shoreline keeps traffic to a scale that a handful of local access roads can handle.
