The lake
About Lake Tuscaloosa
Lake Tuscaloosa was built in 1970 when the North River was dammed just northwest of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to secure the city's water supply. It covers about 5,885 acres in a long, branching shape typical of Alabama's hill-country reservoirs, with Northport and Tuscaloosa on its south end. It's the largest of the area's three water-supply lakes — Harris Lake and Lake Nicol are the other two — and its clear, sheltered coves make it the local lake for boating and bass fishing alike.
