The lake
About Greers Ferry Lake
Greers Ferry Lake was created in 1962 when the Corps of Engineers finished Greers Ferry Dam on the Little Red River in the Arkansas Ozarks, about 31,500 acres with a maximum depth near 200 feet. President Kennedy dedicated the dam at Heber Springs on October 3, 1963, one of his last public appearances before his assassination in Dallas seven weeks later. The lake's cold releases feed a blue-ribbon trout fishery on the Little Red below the dam, and Fairfield Bay and Heber Springs are its main towns.
