The lake
About Lake Hamilton
Lake Hamilton was created in 1932 when Arkansas Power and Light completed Carpenter Dam on the Ouachita River, the second of three dams built on the river near Hot Springs. It covers about 7,200 acres with 200 miles of shoreline and depths to 60 feet, and its shore is the most developed of the Hot Springs lakes, lined with homes, restaurants and resorts. Garvan Woodland Gardens sits on a peninsula partway down the lake, reachable by boat or car.
