The lake

About Lake Ouachita

Lake Ouachita was formed when Blakely Mountain Dam closed on the Ouachita River in 1953, with its hydroelectric plant coming online in 1955, flooding a stretch of the Ouachita Mountains northwest of Hot Springs. The lake covers about 40,100 acres with roughly 690 miles of shoreline, the largest lake located entirely within Arkansas, and its exceptionally clear water has made it one of the top scuba-diving lakes in the country. Mountain Harbor and the other resorts along its shore, along with Lake Ouachita State Park, serve the boating and fishing crowd that fills it each summer.

Why we cut this one

Lake Ouachita is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
