About Shenango Recreation Area Campground

Shenango Recreation Area Campground sits on the shore of Shenango River Lake, a flood-control reservoir on the Shenango River managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Pittsburgh District. The lake and its surrounding woods span Mercer County in northwestern Pennsylvania, just outside Hermitage and neighboring Sharon, close to the Ohio state line.

Campers come for the swim beach and boat launch, which put fishing and paddling right at the campground's edge, along with a playground for kids and a pavilion for group cookouts. Evening programs draw crowds to the amphitheater, and looped rows of sites give the campground the feel of a small lakeside neighborhood rather than a single long row of pull-throughs.
