About Long Meadow Pond

Long Meadow Pond sits in the hill country west of Waterbury, Connecticut, in terrain shaped by the retreat of glacial ice sheets that left behind the region's characteristic kettle ponds and till-covered ridges. Like many small waterbodies in the Naugatuck Valley, it became a local fixture for the mill towns and farm communities that grew up around it, long before it served as a recreational destination in its own right.

Today the pond is surrounded mostly by residential neighborhoods rather than resort development, giving it a quieter, more local character than Connecticut's larger recreational lakes. It draws anglers working its shallower coves, residents with canoes and small boats, and a modest year-round population who treat it as a neighborhood pond rather than a vacation spot. Its size and modest depth keep it warm through summer, favoring panfish and bass over the cold-water species found in deeper glacial lakes.

Why we cut this one
Long Meadow Pond is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Long Meadow Pond depth chart, in wood

This is a Long Meadow Pond depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 4 ft, 9 ft, 13 ft, 18 ft, 22 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 27 ft. The lake covers about 0.2 square miles. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Long Meadow Pond map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Long Meadow Pond for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Long Meadow Pond.

Questions

Long Meadow Pond map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Long Meadow Pond; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Long Meadow Pond is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
