About Priest Lake

Priest Lake lies in the far north of the Idaho panhandle, about 19 miles long and up to 369 feet deep, with Upper Priest Lake connected by a two-mile thoroughfare that no motor can hurry through. The water is famously clear and the shoreline is largely national and state forest, with old cedar groves and the Selkirk crest behind it.

Coolin at the south end and Nordman on the west side are the settlements; Hill's Resort, Elkins and the Kalispell Island campgrounds are how most people know it. The lake was named for the Jesuit missions of the 1840s.

On the board
  • 10 shore towns named, with a star on each
  • 368 roads engraved around the shore, 0 of them labeled
  • 6 depth layers, each step engraved with its depth in feet
  • Compass rose, title block with coordinates, max depth and area; keyhole hanger on the back
Why we cut this one
Priest Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
