The lake
About China Lake
China Lake sits in Kennebec County, Maine, split into an eastern basin inside the town of China and a deeper western basin reaching into Vassalboro — about 3,939 acres and 85 feet at its deepest point. The western basin supplies drinking water for Waterville and Winslow, which is why development there has stayed light. It's known locally for some of the best largemouth bass fishing in the state, with tournaments held on the lake most summers.
