The lake

About Damariscotta Lake

Damariscotta Lake runs about ten miles through Jefferson, Nobleboro and Newcastle on Maine's midcoast, roughly 4,381 acres with a maximum depth of 114 feet. At its southern tip, Damariscotta Mills has drawn alewives upstream every spring since a dam and fish ladder went in there in 1807, still one of the oldest working examples in the country. Damariscotta Lake State Park sits at the north end, with the Spectacle Islands out in open water.

Why we cut this one

Damariscotta Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.
