The lake
About Long Lake
Long Lake stretches about twelve miles between Naples, Bridgton and Harrison in Maine's Sebago Lakes region, roughly 5,300 acres and connected south to Sebago Lake by way of the Songo River. Canal boats from Portland reached it after the Cumberland and Oxford Canal opened in 1832, and the Songo Lock still lowers the lake about three feet every November to head off spring flooding. Stephen King set his novella 'The Mist' here, and E.B. White kept a camp on its shore.
