About Pushaw Lake

Pushaw Lake sits just northwest of Bangor, spanning parts of Glenburn, Hudson, Old Town, and Bradford. It drains into the Penobscot River via the Pushaw Stream outlet at Old Town, part of a watershed that funnels water from several smaller ponds and streams to the north and west. The lake is shallow relative to its size, with an average depth well under its roughly 56-foot maximum, giving it the broad, weedy shallows typical of central Maine's warm-water lakes rather than the steep-sided basins found further north.

The shoreline runs about 32 miles, mostly wooded with a mix of camps and year-round homes, and development has increased steadily as Bangor's outskirts have grown closer. The lake carries a long reputation among local anglers for bass fishing, with largemouth and smallmouth both present, alongside pickerel and panfish. Its size and shallow, weedy structure make it one of the more productive warm-water fisheries in Penobscot County, and it draws a mix of longtime Maine families and Bangor-area commuters looking for lake access without a long drive.

Why we cut this one
Pushaw Lake is one of the lakes people ask us for by name — the kind of shoreline where the house has a name and the dock has a history. This board is cut from the same depth grid the configurator uses for all 104,419 lakes, so the shape is the real one.

Depth chart

Pushaw Lake depth chart, in wood

This is a Pushaw Lake depth chart you can hang: 6 stacked layers of birch, each one a depth contour — 9 ft, 19 ft, 28 ft, 37 ft, 47 ft and deeper, down to the deepest hole at about 56 ft. The lake covers about 8.0 square miles, and 143 shore roads are engraved around it. The shape of the bottom is the real one from published soundings, so anglers recognise their drop-offs and points.

A Pushaw Lake map for the wall — or a gift

Most of these go to a cabin wall, a lake house entry, or a home office; a lot are gifts — the family that has been on Pushaw Lake for three generations, the retirement move, the first boat. The 12-inch is the desk-and-shelf size; the 24- and 30-inch boards read across a room. Add a line under the title and star your place on the shore, and it becomes the map of your Pushaw Lake.

Questions

Pushaw Lake map — the details

How big is the map?

Four sizes: 12, 17, 24 and 30 inches on the long side, from $149. Every size is cut from the same depth data of Pushaw Lake; the bigger boards carry more shoreline roads and place names.

Is it made from real depth data?

Yes. Pushaw Lake is cut layer by layer from published bathymetric soundings — each layer of birch is a depth contour, so the shape of the bottom is the real one, not decorative.

Can I add my own place on it?

Yes. At checkout you can add a line under the title (a family name, a cabin name, a year) and star the spot on the shore that matters to you.

How long does it take?

Made to order in Waterford, Pennsylvania and shipped in 7–10 days; shipping is free in the lower 48.

Can you make a lake that isn't listed?

Any lake in the United States — we hold depth data for 104,419 of them. Search for yours; if it isn't built yet we build it when you order.
