About Bennett Lake
Bennett Lake sits in the glaciated terrain southeast of Flint, Michigan, part of a landscape of small kettle and moraine lakes left behind as the last ice sheets retreated across the Lower Peninsula thousands of years ago. At roughly 141 acres with about three miles of shoreline, it is modest in size compared to nearby recreational lakes, which has kept development around it largely residential rather than resort-driven.
The lake's shoreline is lined mostly with year-round and seasonal homes, and its size and depth, with a maximum around 39 feet, make it suited to fishing and quiet boating rather than large powerboat traffic. Its location outside Flint places it within reach of Genesee County residents looking for a smaller, less crowded alternative to the region's bigger lakes, and it functions primarily as a neighborhood lake rather than a regional destination.
